Following a full inspection of the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) at Royal Stoke University Hospital, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has graded it as 'Good' in all areas. The service is provided by Staffordshire Doctors Urgent Care which is part of the Vocare group, a Totally plc company which provides of a wide range of out of hospital services across the UK.
This follows a recent CQC rating of 'Good' for the GP Out of Hours (OOH) service and 111 service, also provided by Vocare. This means that all urgent care services across Staffordshire provided by Vocare are now rated as 'Good' by the regulator.
When inspecting health services to provide a rating, the CQC looks at five key areas to assess whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. In each of the key five areas, the team made important improvements that had a major impact to how the overall service was delivered.
To achieve this rating the team introduced initiatives in all areas to address issues which required improvement, including:
Following the ratings, Vocare, one of the UK's leading national specialist providers of urgent care services, no longer has any 'Inadequate' ratings across their 24 services.
Dr Jim Heptinstall, National Medical Director for Vocare said:
"This is fantastic news for Staffordshire residents. We are incredibly proud of our staff and the services we provide and the CQC findings are testament to the continued determination of the local and national Vocare teams to provide the best possible care for patients."
