3 The world’s oldest public healthcare system is facing one of the most challenging periods in its history. Funding restrictions, an ageing population and the increasing impact of lifestyle factors like obesity have put the NHS under more strain than ever before. Getting real value for money when it invests in the support of private sector partners is essential if it is to survive these testing times and continue to meet its complex and ever-changing demands. We believe that our ability to provide this value, without compromising on the quality of our services, is what has driven our success in recent years. We collaborate closely with the NHS and now deliver services to over nine million patients nationally every year. Our growing turnover and expanding reach across the UK are indicators of a formula which is clearly working. Our clients in the NHS benefit from service excellence without wasting vital resources on inflated costs or inefficiencies. In the year ending 31 March 2016 Vocare’s turnover grew from £33m to £61m. We also added a range of new services to our portfolio in the period including the company winning its first contract in London. Our continuing growth led us to acquire new, larger premises on Tyneside. Vocare House is a 20,114 sq. ft. office building at Balliol Business Park in Newcastle and is home to over a hundred Vocare employees working in clinical, finance, IT and administration roles. Expansion of the company was followed by a restructure, which saw us devolve more power to our regional service brands with the appointment of a Regional Director for each area in which we operate. This has also been a year when we have focused on developing improved quality and performance systems and processes. As a result, we have been able to guarantee consistently high levels of quality and safety to our patients and commissioners across our services. Vocare’s success in 2015/16 was supported by strong executive and clinical leadership and the positive involvement of our employees in our quality improvement programme.
